About the Show
“2 Across” is a delightful comedy play that takes place on a San Francisco BART train (Bay Area Rapid Transit). The story revolves around two strangers, a man and a woman, who find themselves sitting together on a morning commute. As the journey progresses, they engage in a clever and humorous battle of wits through a crossword puzzle.
The woman, an uptight and analytical psychiatrist, is fully engrossed in solving the crossword puzzle, while the man, a free-spirited and witty advertising executive, is more interested in engaging in playful banter. The crossword puzzle serves as a catalyst for their conversations, providing a backdrop for their evolving relationship.
As the train ride continues, the characters gradually reveal glimpses of their personal lives, sharing their frustrations, dreams, and disappointments. Through their interactions, they challenge and support each other, slowly breaking down their emotional barriers and forming a connection that transcends the confines of their train compartment.
“2 Across” is a heartwarming and humorous exploration of human connection, unexpected encounters, and the power of shared experiences. It invites the audience to reflect on the serendipitous moments that bring people together and the profound impact they can have on our lives. With its clever wordplay and genuine charm, the play leaves a lasting impression and celebrates the beauty of human connection in the most unexpected of places.

Taryn Chase is delighted to be back at Dakota Stage, having previously appeared in DSL productions of Steel Magnolias, Lost in Yonkers, Five Women Wearing the Same Dress, and Crimes of the Heart. She is currently Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Bismarck State College. She would like to thank her family for their support, Dan Rogers for his thoughtful direction, Nancy Gordon for stage managing, and Paul for the rest.

Paul is very excited to be part of this Dakota Stage season. He has previously appeared in Capitol Shakespeare productions of A Moon for the Misbegotten, Death of a Salesman, and Barefoot in the Park. He holds a Master of Arts in English from The University of North Dakota and serves as Associate Registrar at University of Mary. He would like to thank Dan Rogers for his direction and care in this show and over the past decade, Nancy Gordon for her details in Stage Managing, and Taryn Chase for her support on stage and off.

Eri was most recently seen in this years production of Sweeney Todd as a company member and playing Beadle for the second week of performances. Eri has performed all over North Dakota at places such as BSC, MSUM, NDSU, Sleepy Hollow, Dakota Stage, and Crimson Creek. Eri has a bachelors in theatre arts with an emphasis in performance/ musical theatre. Some favorite roles/shows include Rent, Cabaret, Rocky Horror and Avenue Q. Eri is the executive assistant here at DSL. Catch Eri in Xanadu playing Caliope at BSC this upcoming March!

Daniel L. Rogers is a retired Professor Emeritus at Bismarck State College. This is the fourth production Dan has directed for dakota Stage and he is thankful for the opportunity. Dan has also directed for Capitol Shakespeare, Montana Shakespeare, Webster University in St. Louis, Rocky Mountain College, Ft. Peck Summer Theatre, and the Globe Playhouse in Los Angeles. Dan would like to thank Marlene Anderson for her friendship, support, and Love. Marlene can be seen in four local television commercials where she shines as a strong woman caring for decrepit old men.

Nancy Gordon has been involved with 17 Dakota Stage productions since Season 28 starting with Dracula in 2006. She has performed in the Don't Hug Me musicals, Little Shop of Horrors, Bonnie & Clyde; and has been the Props Mistress for multiple productions including Living Masterpieces. When she is not at the theatre Nancy records a podcast about her favorite science fiction shows called "Trophies are for Winners."
