About the Show

Charlotte’s Web is a story of friendship, courage, and self-sacrifice. Wilbur is a pig who finds out that he is destined for slaughter. His friend, a spider named Charlotte who lives in the doorway of his pigpen, determines to save him; she accomplishes this by spinning words about him in her web. Adapted from the award winning novel.

Steps for Registration

1. Complete one separate registration per student using one of the four options below.
2. Read the new volunteer requirements below.

Registration Options

1. If you are registering 1 child for 1 show, choose “Early Bird” PLUS select the 3 hour volunteer commitment for your child’s show OR $75 Volunteer “Opt Out” fee.
2. If you are registering 1 child for 2 shows:
   • Choose option 1 for the first show
   • For the second show, choose “Early Bird – 2nd Show Discount PLUS 2 hour volunteer commitment OR Volunteer “Opt Out” Fee (additional $50).
3. If you are registering a second child for one show:
   • Complete the transaction for child 1 using option 1, then
   • Choose “Early Bird – Second Child Discount” PLUS select the additional 2 hour volunteer commitment (for a total of 5 volunteer hours) OR Volunteer “Opt Out” fee (additional $50) .
4. If you are registering a third (or more) child:
   • Complete the transaction for child 1 using option 1, then
   • Complete the transaction for child 2 using option 3, then
   • Choose “Early Bird – 3+ Child Discount” for your other children (You will not be asked to do more than five hours total of volunteer commitment per show or pay more than $125 total for opting out of the volunteer commitment.)

New for 2025 – Volunteer Requirements

Parent volunteerism is a crucial part of what makes Shade Tree Players summer productions successful. Not only it is an opportunity to be involved in and support your child’s growth in theatre, we cannot function without it. We respectfully request that you choose to either commit to at least 3 hours of volunteering for your child’s production (5 hours maximum for multiple children) or pay $75 (maximum of $125 for multiple children) up front to “waive” your volunteer commitment. This fee will go toward hiring summer help to fulfill the jobs not filled by volunteers. Volunteer job opportunities will be announced at the parent meetings for each production. The first 3 hours of volunteering will be rewarded with 2 comp tickets (3 for 5 hours) and at a rate of 1 ticket per every two additional hours with no maximum. Please note that we will have a more structured system of accountability and you will receive reminders for scheduled volunteer jobs and we will check that commitments are fulfilled.  We really appreciate your support and hope this year is even better and more successful than last year!

Brittany is so excited to be back to her 8th year at Shade Tree! Having worked as a Music Director and Stage Manager for 3 years, she is absolutely thrilled to be back for her 5th year as director for Charlotte’s Web! Brittany is no stranger to the theatre community here in Bismarck, not only has she worked with Shade Tree, she has worked with Sleepy Hollow as director for their Rising Stars Program, with Capitol Shakespeare on stage, and with Bismarck State College as vocal director for their last few musicals and as an actor on stage; most recently being Jekyll and Hyde and Anastasia. She holds degrees in Music Education and Vocal Performance and has a minor in Theatre from the UMary and is a graduate from BSC with a theatre focus. When she is not on stage or working in children’s theatre, she is a private voice teacher, and an avid video game player. She would like to thank her family and friends for always being there for her and supporting her in all of her theatrical endeavors.

She just completed her associate’s degree in Theatre Arts - Performance at BSC, and will be attending the Second City Comedy Studies program at Columbia College in Chicago this fall. Her previous show credits include Descendants: The Musical, The Pajama Game, and The House at Pooh Corner with Shade Tree Players, The Nutcracker, Dance+, and Cinderella with Northern Plains Dance, 15 Minute Hamlet with Capitol Shakespeare’s Young Bards, and A Year with Frog and Toad, Tiny Beautiful Things, Xanadu, Jekyll and Hyde, Emma, and Anastasia with BSC Theatre. She was the choreographer for Emma and the dance captain for Anastasia. She has been the musical director for several shows for Dakota Stage and has been seen on stage performing in the DSL musicals, “Bonnie and Clyde” and “The Addams Family”. Maria instructed music for 30 years in the Mandan Public Schools. She now keeps busy giving private voice lessons, serving on the Board of the Central Dakota Children’s Choirs, a member of the Dakota Stage/ Shade Tree Players committee, singing in the Bismarck-Mandan Civic Chorus, and playing pickleball! Maria wants to send a special THANK YOU to her family and friends who have supported her in all her theatrical endeavors!

Stage Manager

Lex Belile is the current Administrative Assistant for Dakota Stage, and has been involved in theatre with Shade Tree and Dakota Stage since 2010. Her most recent shows include: Carrie (ensemble), Church Basement Ladies (Stage Manager), The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical (Choreographer), The Crucible (ensemble), Beetlejuice Jr. in New Salem (choreographer), and Suite Surrender (Stage Manager). She also has a double masters degree in Business Administration and Philosophy, and currently teaches at BSC.
